The Saskatoon Police Service says a traffic stop Monday night led to two arrests in what became a drug and weapon related investigation.
At 11:00 p.m. Patrol officers pulled over a vehicle that had a license plate that didn’t match the registration. This was in the 1300 block of 8th Street East and when officers looked inside they spotted open alcohol. That led to a search and police say the driver had a can of bear spray and explosive blasting caps, methamphetamine, fentanyl and unstamped cigarettes. The passenger was also found to be in possession of unstamped cigarettes, a pipe and hydromorphone pills. Inside the vehicle, officers seized brass knuckles and ammunition.
Two men from Saskatoon are facing charges. A 39-year-old man was charged with Possession of a Dangerous Weapon, Carry a Concealed Weapon, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon and two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance while a 48-year-old man was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and was released on an undertaking. The duo was also issued tickets for unstamped tobacco.
