If you were out and about on Saturday night around 9:00 p.m. you may have seen someone hit a vehicle with a crowbar.
The call came in from 22nd Street East and 3rd Avenue South. And the male suspect also allegedly assaulted the passenger of the vehicle with a modified weapon before fleeing.
A Bike officer tracked down a suspect a block away and believed the suspect was concealing a weapon, but he took off on foot. And then Patrol officers relocated the suspect at Spadina Crescent East and 20th Street East but police say that when officers confronted him, the suspect threw a glass jug at the Patrol Car, breaking the windshield before trying to flee for a third time.
Police say officers located a crowbar and a sock filled with rocks. He was assessed by paramedics and medically cleared prior to being transported to SPS Detention.
The suspect was taken into custody with the use of a conducted energy weapon (CEW) and police believe he was under the influence of an intoxicant. A 37-year-old man is charged with Assaulting a Peace Officer With a Weapon, Assault With a Weapon, Resisting Arrest, Possession of Break & Enter Tools, Mischief and Breach of Probation.
Attempted armed break-in at motel
The Saskatoon Police Service says Patrol officers responded to a weapons call at a hotel in the 1300 block of 8th Street East on Saturday aroun d7:30 p.m.
Police were told a man was trying to force himself inside a suite armed with a gun and when unsuccessful, he fled.
A suspect was located in the 600 block of Victoria Avenue South and was taken into custody. A firearm was also seized.
A 32-year-old Saskatoon man is facing two firearms-related offences as well as a charge for attempting to break and enter to commit a crime.
