The Resort Village of Candle Lake Emergency Services says the Pre-Evacuation Alert has been lifted, but the municipal and provincial fire bans are still in effect.
The Alert was issued last Thursday due to the “Camp” and “Shoe” wildfires burning nearby.
Wednesday’s update says crews are making progress in containing the fires, which are not yet fully extinguished. On-going monitoring will continue, and if the situation changes, the public will be advised as soon as possible.
The agency also reported Wednesday morning that there was some ash in the air over Candle Lake on Tuesday, and that may continue throughout Wednesday. It also reported there is no danger of this ash igniting another fire.
