Three people have been arrested following a firearm discharge on the James Smith Cree Nation.
On Saturday, at 2:30 a.m., Melfort RCMP were called to the James Smith Cree Nation. Officers say they arrived at a home to find a man with a gunshot wound. He was taken to hospital by EMS.
Officers learned that the suspects entered the home between 11:30 p.m. on Friday and 2:30 a.m. on Saturday. Armed with firearms, they allegedly threatened residents, discharged a firearm, injured the man, and assaulted several other adults in the home.
Later that afternoon, RCMP received a report of several people with firearms outside a home on James Smith Cree Nation. Officers believed these suspects were connected the incident from earlier that day, and one man and two women were arrested.
Now, 27-year-old Keistin Deschambeault of Nipawin faces 13 charges, 27-year-old Lyric Arcand faces four, as does 27-year-old Samara Head, both of James Smith Cree Nation.
Additionally, officers seized an extendable baton and brass knuckles during a search of the vehicle.
