The Saskatoon Fire Department responded at 5:19 p.m. Tuesday to a fire in a duplex in the 2600 block of Eastview. Firefighters first on scene could see smoke coming from an upstairs bedroom on one side of the duplex.
All occupants of the home had safely evacuated the building and were accounted for.
Firefighters advanced hoses to fight the fire from inside and the blaze was brought under control shortly after. No extension of the fire was found in the walls or ceiling and the building was ventilated of toxic gases. The air quality was also tested.
No one was injured in the fire and a fire investigator is determining the origin, cause as well as damage estimate.
On Monday morning a fire in Saskatoon’s Dundonald neighbourhood spread from a house in the 400 block of Nesbitt Way to a neighbouring home as well as vehicles. Despite significant damage no one was hurt in that fire either.
