Saskatoon has had its second homicide of the May long weekend, marking the city’s fourth homicide of the year.
At approximately 11:00 p.m. on Sunday, police responded to a report of a person suffering from a stab wound in the area of Avenue B South and Spadina Crescent. A 43-year-old male was found and transported to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
At approximately 5:00 a.m. on Saturday officers responded to a motel in the 2000 block of Avenue B North, where they found a 20-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to hospital, but later succumbed to his injuries. A 27-year-old male has been arrested and charged with First Degree Murder, while a second suspect, 26-year-old Lawrence Opikowew, remains at large and is considered armed and dangerous.
