The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency has launched a new program that will allow residents to register their Values At Risk.
The SPSA says in wildfire terms, “Values At Risk” refers to the assets and property that could be impacted or damaged by wildfire. This could include buildings, cabins, docks and homes.
SPSA President and Fire Commissioner Marlo Pritchard says, “By informing the SPSA about your cabin, home, or other significant assets, you will help fire managers prioritize protection efforts.” He adds that this information will also help improve response strategies and increase the likelihood of safeguarding those assets.
The agency says all information provided will stay confidential and will only be used by fire managers for wildfire management purposes. There is a registration link with this story online.
There are currently 12 active wildfires burning in the province, seven of which are contained.
