Warman Fire Rescue were able to provide a somewhat happier ending to a house fire from earlier this week. The duplex on Redwood Crescent was severely damaged in the early morning blaze on Wednesday and while the family was able to escape thanks to working smoke detectors, the family pets, two cats, didn’t make it out.
Warman Fire Rescue says the cats were found by the Fire Chief while he was doing his investigation and they were alive. A social media post says one survived the two feet of water in the basement and the fire by hiding inside a wall while the other cat hid inside a bed. Both cats were taken to the vet, and one is on oxygen for smoke inhalation. The post closed by saying how glad fire fighters were to be able ti give something positive to the family after such a devastating loss.
