The veteran-laden Saskatchewan Roughriders had to make some tough, eyebrow-raising moves Tuesday night in order to reach the C-F-L man-dated cutdown to 75 players on their training camp roster, excluding non-counters.
They did so by releasing seven players and transferring three others to the suspended list Tuesday night as C-F-L teams were required to reduce their rosters to 75 players plus non-counters. The most eye-opening move made by the Green and White was releasing Canadian offensive lineman Noah Zerr. The 26-year-old Langenburg product joined the team as a free agent last year, playing in 10 regular-season games. He played collegiately with the U of S Huskies. He was originally taken in the second round, 12th overall, in the 2022 C-F-L draft by the B-C Lions and also spent time with Hamilton in 2023 before signing with the Riders. In addition, American running back Khalan Laborn and global punter Joe Couch were among the other six players released. defensive backs Leon Jones and Nicario Harper, receiver Ty James, defensive lineman Justin Jefferson, were also released. Laborn signed with Saskatchewan as a free agent this off-season after spending time in 2024 with Toronto and Ottawa. Saskatchewan also transferred twin Canadian linebackers Justin and Jordan Herdman-Reed along with American offensive lineman Julius Buelow to the suspended list. Roughriders camp resumes Thursday morning at Griffiths Stadium. Following is the news release from the Riders…..
