With Warman High School at overcapacity and parents wanting action towards another school being built, Warman City Council says they fully support the need for another school – but have concerns about the proposed location.
In a news release from the City of Warman, one of council’s primary concerns is the financial impact of servicing the remote location – on Township Road 384 in the RM of Corman Park, between Warman and Martensville.
Other Council concerns for this location are the cost of acquiring the land, water and wastewater services, transportation upgrades, power and gas service plus the busing of students outside of Warman would present issues of accessibility, safety and daily commute times for families.
Warman City Council believes that locating a new high school within Warman city limits would be a more responsible and cost-effective alternative for taxpayers. Council says they will be exploring engagement opportunities for residents and stakeholders so as to ensure that their decisions reflect the needs and priorities of the Warman community
