It’s my Parting Shot for a leftover Monday Musing that turns into a Tuesday Tidbit, plus the return of the now very intermittent Tuesday feature – answering questions posed on the T-S-N website…..
The leftover Monday Musing, now Tuesday Tidbit, has to with the debate that always rages as to which game is the big one to win in a best-of-seven series in sports, especially in pro sports like the N-H-L. Is it Game 3 or Game 4? I say, since most series get to this point, it’s Game 5! Even if a team is down 3-1 going into a Game 5, if that team wins and extends the series to a sixth game, there are plenty of examples in history, especially in the N-H-L, of teams overcoming a 3-1 deficit in order to advance or win a title! So there!!
The last time I did a Tuesday, answering questions posed on the T-S-N website, was four weeks ago! I promise to be better and, I’ll start off today, by going with the query, can McIlroy win back-to-back? It’s the second major tournament of 2025. Now that he’s finally attained the career Grand Slam by winning The Masters, why not have Rory win all four majors this year?! Except, Scottie Scheffler is going to have something to say about that!!
Secondly, how can Leafs help Matthews get going? Unless they can get inside his head and be positive with him before Florida does and makes him doubt himself, I don’t know that the much-ballyhooed and over-hyped Central Canada media darling can actually come up big in the big moments! That’s the problem with the so-called star American hockey players!
Lastly, are Rockies worse than 2024 White Sox? The accompanying story goes on to say, quote, the belief across the sport is the Rockies remain well behind other organizations in applying analytics. My old school disdain for advanced analytics will show here, but as much as baseball is a game of numbers and match-ups, I think the numbers of today go a way too far in determining strategy! To answer the question at hand, the Colorado Rockies are finally having their ball park – where they play half of their games – catch up to them! The thin air leads to a lot of lazy flyballs winding up as home runs, meaning that Rockies’ pitching isn’t good enough to compete normally. Tack on Coors Field and Colorado is 6-33 and well on the way to being worse than the ChiSox of 2024 at 41-121!
That’s my Parting Shot. I’m Les Lazaruk…and it turned out nice again!
