Lower-than-normal water levels at the South-Saskatchewan River have the Meewasin Valley Authority warning saskatoon residents of potential dangers.
Meewasin says the low water has exposed numerous sandbars, and although they may appear inviting, they possess several dangers.
Meewasin CEO Mike Velonas says the edges of the sandbars can be unstable and drop off sharply into deep water.
Other hazards include debris, currents, and changing conditions.
When visiting the river, the public is asked to be aware, never go alone, check conditions, wear a life jacket, and supervise children.
