It’s my Parting Shot for my Monday Musings…..
I’ll start with a question, does anybody really know what the N-H-L rules are when it comes to a puck that winds up in the net, after it’s been kicked – AND when it has hit something or someone before crossing the goal line? A second query, can anybody – the league, coaches, managers and/or media – know how to read and comprehend was is said in the rule book?! My answer is no to both questions after yesterday’s winning goal debacle in Dallas! Of course, I’m a little biased on the incident!!
A big thank you to the gentleman who saved my butt yesterday, by tracking me down in the Co-op parking lot in University Heights and told me that I had left by debit card in the payment gizmo after checking through my groceries! The alzheimers is advancing on me the older I get, I fear!
I went golfing yesterday for the first time of what won’t be many times this year, due to several factors – one of which I will get to shortly. I shot The Willows and – prior to and after the round was noticing all the housing construction over at, what used to be, the Islands nine – back when The Willows was 36 holes. There’s actually homes completed and being lived in – quite a progression from the last time I was out late last summer! I, also, have known for quite a while that The Willows will, eventually, be just an 18-hole facility with the Xena nine staying as is while the Lakes and Bridges nines will have some holes turn into housing space. Like I say, as someone who likes to golf, like so many people – but aren’t able to as much as we’d like for time and financial reasons, losing another nine holes within the city is very disappointing! I very much dislike having to pay 102 dollars for green fees, including one seat power cart rental! Hence, I’ll have to ride my bicycle and walk our dog more so that I can get my cardio up so I can walk the course for any future rounds – pretty much anywhere because The Willows’ fees aren’t unique!!
And, the debate always rages as to which game is the big one to win in a best-of-seven series in sports, especially in pro sports like the N-H-L. Is it Game 3 or Game 4? I say, since most series get to this point, it’s Game 5! Even if a team is down 3-1 going into a Game 5, if that team wins and extends the series to a sixth game, there are plenty of examples in history, especially in the N-H-L, of teams overcoming a 3-1 deficit in order to advance or win a title! So there!!
That’s my Parting Shot. I’m Les Lazaruk…and it turned out nice again!
