The Government of Saskatchewan has elaborated on highway and airport improvement in northern Sasktchewan which includes $86 million in capital improvement to roads and $36.5 million in operation and maintenance.
Some of the highways seeing improvement include Highway 102 with Thin Membrane Surface upgrade from la Ronge Airport north access to Sucker River and spot improvement north of Lac La Ronge.
Among some of the improvements to Highway 106 is microsurfacing west of Highway 165 junction as well as strengthening and grade raise on Highway 106. There is money set aside for design work on Highway 2 for resurfacing near Weyakwin, as well as Highway 915, which will see crushing and prep work for future gravel resurfacing west of Stanley Mission.
Highways Minister David Marit says the $122.3 million overall investment is intended to enhance safety and reliability of key transportation infrastructure in northern Saskatchewan.
