The Saskatchewan Rush can enjoy the thought of being one win away from the N-L-L Championship while still holding home field advantage. What was thought to have been a risky move scheduling the opening game in the best-of-three semi-final series in Halifax opposed to the higher seeded Saskatchewan Rush, has paid off thus far. Even if Saturday’s result goes in favor of Halifax, game three is right back at SaskTel Centre on Sunday.
The focus among the group is responding with their best effort against what is expected to be another hot start from Halifax. One advantage Saskatchewan has on top of home field is their home crowd behind them, and they’re hoping for a better turnout than the quarter-final game against Georgia back on May 3rd. As of Friday afternoon, ticket sales for tomorrow’s game just surpassed five thousand, with the hope that sales over the next 24 hours or so can inflate that number to upwards of seven thousand.
The Rush held a shoot-around at the Gordie Howe Kinsmen Arena Friday afternoon before Saturday night’s tilt against the Halifax Thunderbirds. Below are full media scrums with the four members of the Rush that were nominated for major N-L-L Awards, Matt Hossack (Defensive Player of the Year), Frank Scigliano (Goaltender of the Year), Derek Keenan (General Manager of the Year), and Jimmy Quinlan (Les Bartley Award – Coach of the Year)…..
