Saskatchewan is changing the criteria around infant immunization for RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus).
Under the new approach every baby born one month before or during RSV season, with parental consent, can be immunized against RSV.
The RSV season typically runs from October 1 to March 31 and babies born in that time frame are eligible to receive a publicly funded immunization in hospital at the time of birth.
The government recommends considering RSV immunization for all infants born during their first RSV season, and for those with increased risk during their second season.
