A 29-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman each face multiple charges following an early Monday morning attempt to evade police.
A Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) news release said patrol officers observed a grey Dodge Ram truck being driven in a suspicious manner near Laurier Drive and Diefenbaker Drive at about 1 a.m. on May 5.
A traffic stop was attempted, but the suspect driver fled at a high rate of speed before hitting a parked car and a fence in the 600 block of Ells Crescent and coming to a stop. The driver and lone passenger in the vehicle were arrested there with the driver believed to be under the influence of an intoxicant.
Police say the passenger was found to be concealing a can of bear spray on her person, as well as methamphetamine. In addition, a stolen license plate was found inside the vehicle.
The 29-year-old male driver is charged with dangerous driving, impaired driving, fail to remain at the scene of an accident, evade police and possession of stolen property under five-thousand dollars. The 19-year-old female passenger was arrested on an outstanding warrant and is facing two, new weapons-related offences.
