RCMP say four people are facing drug and weapons charges after a traffic stop in Air Ronge.
Early last Friday morning, members of the RCMP La Ronge Crime Reduction Team made a traffic stop on Highway #2 in Air Ronge. Their investigation led to the seizure of a conducted energy weapon from one person in the vehicle and in a news release RCMP say officers also spotted bear spray.
Four people were arrested and RCMP arranged for a child under the age of five in the vehicle to be picked up by a family member.
RCMP say subsequent searches of the people as well as the vehicle itself led to officers locating and seizing a prohibited firearm, 125 grams of crack cocaine, 14.5 grams of methamphetamine, 11.4 grams of a substance believed to be a mixture of methamphetamine and fentanyl, and additional drug trafficking paraphernalia.
Two men, 23-year-old Aaron McKenzie and 36-year-old Darcel Fourstar, and two women, 23-year-old Bridget Starblanket and 26-year-old Kamika Riese, all from La Ronge are facing multiple weapon and drug charges. They made their first court appearance April 28th.
Aaron McKenzie, Darcel Fourstar, Bridget Starblanket, and Kamika Riese are each charged with:
– three counts, possession for the purpose of trafficking, Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
– two counts, possession of weapon for dangerous purpose, Section 88(1), Criminal Code;
– one count, unauthorized possession of a firearm, Section 91(1), Criminal Code; and
– one count, possession of a firearm in motor vehicle, Section 94(1), Criminal Code.
Aaron McKenzie faces an additional one count, possession of weapon for dangerous purpose, Section 88(1), Criminal Code; one count, carry a concealed weapon, Section 90(1), Criminal Code; and one count, possession of a prohibited weapon, Section 91(2), Criminal Code.
Bridget Starblanket faces an additional one count, possession contrary to order, Section 117.01(1), Criminal Code; and two counts, fail to comply with probation order, Section 733.1(1), Criminal Code.
Kamika Riese faces an additional one count, possession contrary to order, Section 117.01(1), Criminal Code.
