The Serious Assault Unit is investigating a stabbing that took place downtown late Wednesday afternoon.
Around 5:45 p.m. police responded to a call of a stabbing in the 200 block of 1st Avenue South where suspects were reported to have fled into a nearby mall. Midtown Plaza is located in the area.
Police located a man suffering from a potentially life-threatening stab wound who was transported to hospital by Medavie Health Services West. A police search of the area did not locate any suspects.
Just over an hour later, the Saskatoon Police Service says officers responded around 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening to an establishment in the 400 block of 22nd Street West after receiving a report of a man with a firearm.
When officers got there, they located the man sitting with what was later determined to be an imitation firearm on the table next to him. In a news release, Saskatoon Police say he was arrested and was also found to be in possession of a conducted energy weapon.
A 26-year-old man has been charged with possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace and failure to comply with court-imposed conditions.
