Wednesday the Government of Saskatchewan, in partnership with the Northern Lights School Division and local community partners, announced the completion of the new Nįtélazёtúë Elementary School in La Loche.
The 5,548-square-metre elementary school is located adjacent to Dene High School designed to accommodate approximately 475 students from Prekindergarten to Grade 6.
In a news release the Government of Saskatchewan sys, “The school’s architecture, developed with input from the local community, celebrates Indigenous cultural elements and reflects the natural beauty of the surrounding area. ”
The provincial government contributed $44.8 million to the new school with the Northern Lights School Division contributing additional funds to expand the gymnasium which will serve not just the school but the community.
Classes are scheduled to begin in the school in September.
