City crews have a big job ahead of them, as all of Saskatoon’s parks and sports fields have to be cleaned and maintenanced this spring.
Operations Manager for the Parks Department Konrad Andre says the city has 220 parks and over 300 sports fields that need to have litter, leaves and branches removed, spring runoff pumped, and sidewalks swept.
City crews will also be grooming trails, removing ruts, mowing open spaces along Circle Drive, and emptying garbage receptacles.
Andre assures that there are no park restrictions in place when this work is being done.
“The main thing I would mention is, for the expressway work, it is contracted work, and when our contractors are out there, just a friendly reminder to please slow down when passing crews working next to roadways.”
He adds that these vehicles won’t have blue and amber flashing lights, but signage will be placed next to the road in impacted areas.
