An MLA for the provincial NDP is calling today a historic day for the Sikh community following the passing of a new bill in the Legislature.
The Opposition received unanimous support for a bill that recognizes April as Sikh Heritage Month in Saskatchewan. The bill was originally introduced by Bhajan Brar, the NDP MLA for Regina Pasqua.
Prior to Thursday’s approval, the Sikh community had to apply for recognition every year.
Despite this good news, the NDP continue to call on the Sask Party to eject Humboldt-Watrous MLA Racquel Hilbert for referring to Jagmeet Singh as a terrorist in the Legislature earlier this month.
