Two armed robberies, on consecutive evenings over the weekend in Saskatoon’s west end, has resulted in two open investigations for the Saskatoon Police Service (S-P-S) and suspects at large in both cases.
The latest incident, according to an S-P-S news release, was Sunday night at around 8:30 p.m. when patrol officers responded to a robbery at a gas station in the 3300 block of Fairlight Drive. Police were told that a lone man entered the business, pointed a gun at an employee and demanded money. The employee attempted to restrain the suspect, leading to a physical altercation in which the suspect left his sweater, bag and imitation firearm behind upon fleeing. The suspect later returned to collect his belongings, but took off, again, when threatened by the employee. No suspect description is available at this time.
The second incident happened late Saturday evening. According to the S-P-S news release, officers responded to a liquor store being robbed in the 2400 block of 22nd Street West at about 11 p.m. on April 12. Upon arrival, police were told by store employees that a lone, masked man entered the business brandishing a gun and demanded money from the till. He fled prior to the officers arrival and was believed to have left in a green, two-door vehicle with a red, rear bumper. The suspect is described as being about 5’9″ inches tall, wearing a puffy, black winter jacket, a black baseball cap with a black face covering. He wore grey sweatpants with white text on the top, left side. He also wore black shoes and carried a black duffel bag. Anyone with information about these robberies is asked to contact the S-P-S or Crime Stoppers.
