Gas prices are set to drop slightly across Canada Saturday, but the reprieve may not last for long.
According to Gas Wizard, predicted gas prices for Saturday are dropping by 3 cents in Saskatoon, but lowering by up to 8 cents in Victoria and 2 cents in Winnepeg.
The slight decrease will mean Saskatoon residents are paying roughly 128.9 c/L.
However, Dan McTeague, President of Canadians for Affordable Energy and Gas Wizard Founder, says gas stations are now switching to summer-blend fuel. This fuel costs more to produce and is expected to increase prices by 5 to 6 cents per litre. This, paired with a weaker Canadian dollar or shifting global oil demand, and the short-term price cut could morph into a price hike before too long.
