Average retail gasoline prices in Saskatoon have fallen 18.6 c/L in the past week, averaging 135.16 c/L yesterday, according to GasBuddy.com’s daily survey of 81 gas outlets in Saskatoon.
In a news release Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, says prices dropped sharply as expected with the pause on the carbon tax marking one of the largest single-week declines in Canadian gas prices, ever seen. He also said it brought gas prices to their lowest level since 2021. He also says much lower gas prices are likely in the days ahead.
“At the same time, economic uncertainty is rising due to new U.S. tariffs on a wide range of countries, which has sent oil prices plummeting to levels not seen since the early days of the pandemic. Canadians shouldn’t feel rushed to fill up, as these tariffs have sparked growing concerns about a global economic slowdown—one that could drive oil demand even lower.”
