The University of Saskatchewan has honoured a pair of alumni and philanthropists by making a popular student hang-out and study space their namesake.
Over the last 40 years, Grit and Scott McCreath have donated more than $2 million to various initiatives, mainly in the College of Education and Edwards School of Business, with a focus on enhancing learning spaces to support students.
To acknowledge this, the ground floor of Murray Library was named the Grit and Scott McCreath Library Commons on Tuesday.
Grit graduated with a Bachelor of Education in 1991, and Scott with a Bachelor of Commerce in 1963. Both have continued to stay very active within the University community ever since. Although their generosity spans decades, the donation that started it all was a $15 gift to their colleges in 1984.
