The Saskatchewan RCMP are advising the public to be cautious while driving, as winter weather continues to impact road conditions.
The warning was sent out late Friday afternoon. RCMP reported six reports of jackknifed semis in the Hanley and Kenaston areas. To avoid the scenes, officers advise the public to avoid unnecessary travel, especially between Dundurn and Bladworth. No injuries have been reported to police in relation to the incidents at this time.
On Friday at 1:30 p.m., RCMP were responding to multiple collisions on Highway #11 near Kenaston, when a semi collided with a police vehicle. The police vehicle that was parked on the side of the Highway was damaged, but the officer was not physically injured.
From Thursday, one image included in this story is of two jack-knifed semis near Hanley: one completely blocking off both lanes of traffic, and the other in the ditch. A detour was required.
The other depicts a section of Highway 16 between Lanigan and Dafoe, also on Thursday. Although hard to see due to blowing, numerous vehicles can be seen at a standstill, lined up around a bend in the road. The obstacle: a semi that had slid into the ditch, at one point blocking 15 semis and five passenger vehicles in both directions. The photo comes from a social media post which also reads that the issue had not made it to the Highway Hotline.
