It was a month ago that the Saskatchewan Health Authority announced Saskatoon City Hospital’s Emergency Department would have to reduce its hours for a week. It has been extended a few times since then and now, the SHA says it will continue for about another three-and-a-half months until June 27th, and with the daily hours reduced a bit further.
The hours are usually from 9am to 8:30pm daily, but February 14th the hours were shortened to 9am to 6pm. As of Monday, March 17th, the hours will be 9am to 4pm. The SHA says this is temporary, with physicians being redeployed to Royal University Hospital and St. Paul’s Hospital Emergency Departments.
For non-emergency medical concerns, the SHA’s advice is to call HealthLine 811, visit a walk-in clinic or check your pharmacy, because some can assist with minor health needs.
