You know warmer weather is around the corner when tickets to the SaskTel Saskatchewan Jazz Festival come on sale. The event runs from July 3rd until the 12th, with both ticketed and free, un-ticketed performances available.
Tickets came available online this morning at 8:00 a.m., but the festival’s Executive Director, Shannon Josdal, says they can also be purchased in person at the Broadway Theatre box office. Speaking of the Broadway Theatre, Josdal says it’s back as a venue for the first time since 2022, hosting a combination of international, world class jazz and homegrown local jazz.
“July 8th, we have the Joshua Redman Quartet. This is some of the best jazz in the world right now going to be happening there at the Broadway.”
Then, on July 9th, the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra and Saskatoon Jazz Orchestra will join forces to present Paris on the Prairies.
Beginning on July 9th and running until the 12th, headliners on the mainstage in Victoria Park include Allison Russel, William Prince, Paula Cole, Sophie B Hawkins, Jimmie Vaughan and Lake Street Dive. A schedule of performers is listed below.
Josdal says on top of great entertainment, attendees can expect a show of local and Canadian food and drink.
“Our Saskatoon Co-op Beer Gardens are almost entirely Saskatchewan products…We’ve got local food trucks, local artisan markets, so while you’re checking out the music, you can also check out a ton of what Saskatoon and Saskatchewan has to offer.”
