Huskies MHKY: Dogs break scoreless tie late in third, win Canada West Championship

Backstopped by a 30 save shutout from Canada West Goaltender of the Year Roddy Ross, the University of Saskatchewan Huskies defeated the Mount Royal Cougars 3-0 in Game 3 of the Canada West Championship. The game was thrilling from start to finish, with the first and eventual game-winning goal not coming until 10 minutes into the third period, thanks to veteran forward Vince Loschiavo. Until that point, both teams traded chances all night, with both goaltenders standing tall. Shane Farkas stopped 25 of 27 shots for Mount Royal, continuing his great run going back to Game 2. Ethan Regnier capitalized on a turnover for a late insurance goal, while Ty Prefontaine sealed the victory with an empty-netter.

Saskatchewan captured their twelfth Canada West title, shifting their focus to the upcoming U-SPORTS Nationals in Ottawa.
