Three people are charged following a weekend liquor store robbery on 8th Street, just east of Arlington Avenue.
Around three o’clock on Saturday afternoon, a person with a knife and two others entered the store and started removing liquor bottles. Officers located one of the suspects—a 53-year-old man—in a nearby back alley. The other two suspects fled on foot.
A short time later, police saw a man walking through a parking lot on 8th Street with liquor bottles in his jacket pocket. The man refused to stop and went into a nearby drugstore. The suspect had a metal baton, so a conducted energy weapon was used to make the arrest. In addition to the booze, police recovered a knife and screwdriver. A 38-year-old man is charged with robbery, carrying a concealed weapon and uttering threats.
The third suspect—an 18 year old woman—was located attempting to enter an apartment building in the 2500 block of 7th Street. The woman told police she had ingested a potentially fatal amount of illicit drugs. Officers administered naloxone and after being assessed by paramedics, she was transported to detention. She is charged with robbery, carrying a concealed weapon, theft and breach of conditions.
