A couple of good things have happened over the past 24 hours. First, Canada’s pride and spirits were lifted last night with the win against the U.S. in the Four Nations Cup, 3-2 in overtime, which many may say was much needed considering the anti-Canadian talk from President Donald Trump. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau posted on social media last night after the win, “You can’t take our country and you can’t take our game.” Premier Scott Moe also posted a congratulations to Team Canada.
A new Leger poll suggests 81 per cent of Canadians are concerned that Trump may use measures such as tariffs and trade sanctions to push Canada into a more formal economic relationship with the U.S. and 70 per cent support dollar-for-dollar retaliatory tariffs.
The second piece of good news is as the patriotism heats up in Canada so is the weather. It has begun warming up over the western half of the country. Environment Canada says a stubborn Arctic air mass settled over the western Canada near the beginning of February bringing record cold temperatures, but there is finally a shift in the wind pattern which is breaking down the air mass. It will mean going from well below normal to well above normal temperatures by the weekend, with some areas seeing a warm up of 20 to 30 degrees.
