There was an apartment fire in the 100 block of 25th Street West Thursday night.
The Saskatoon Fire Department says the call came in at 8:04 p.m. and when firefighters arrived at the apartment building, they could see smoke and flame from an apartment suite window. The apartment building is across 25th Street from the Holiday Inn Express on Idylwyld Drive North.
The fire was extinguished, and large fans were set up to remove smoke and toxins from the building. Everyone safely evacuated and no injuries were reported.
Fire officials say there was a warmup bus on scene, but all residents preferred to evacuate to the hotel. All occupants were able to return to their apartments, except for the person living in the suite which was the scene of the fire and that individual, who wasn’t home when the blaze broke out, made arrangements for accommodation.
A fire investigator will identify the cause, origin and damage estimate.
