It’s my Parting Shot for my Monday Musings…..
As reluctant as I am to toot my own horn, I have to thank all involved with an incredible Friday for me. The bobblehead doll likenesses of me were incredible, dropping the puck for the ceremonial opening faceoff and singing both anthems ahead of the Blades-Wenatchee game were moments I’ll never forget and cherish forever! Thank you to all members of the Saskatoon Blades for choosing to honour little ol’ me. Thank you and major love to my wife, Verna, for supporting and putting up with me as well as to my sister and brother-in-law for flying in from Winnipeg to make the weekend extra special, considering it was our 33rd wedding anniversary on Saturday! Thank you to Blades City – all the fans who showered me with cheers and appreciation and actually wanted me to autograph their bobbleheads! I’m honoured and humbled, but as I’ve frequently said – I’m not retiring!!
My crooning the Star Spangled Banner on Friday will likely be the last time I do, as long as the “cheeto” that is president down south is in charge of The Excited States!
I’m not a fan of mixing politics with sports, but when you have two very dangerous people at the helm of two of the three greatest world super powers, you don’t let Russian athletes take part in any major, international events until the war in Ukraine is done! And, at the very least, I’d ban the Star Spangled Banner from being played prior to any sports event in which an American team or entry is involved in – until this tariff B-S is lifted! O Canada only, baby!!
Of course the Vancouver Canucks traded the wrong guy on Friday! Elias Petterson is being paid an average of 11-point-six million dollars per season, but is one of those old 20th century Swedish hockey stars who thinks his poop doesn’t stink and that he doesn’t have to acknowledge team-mates that he believes to be inferior in talent to him! Which would be pretty much everyone on the Canuckleheads!! He is a sports team cancer and he’s still with Vancouver, meaning they won’t win anything for as long as he’s there!
That’s my Parting Shot. I’m Les Lazaruk…and it turned out nice again!
