The YXE Saskatoon Airport (YXE) says it saw an approximate 15 per cent growth in passenger traffic year over year in 2024. That brings them to a 99 per cent recovery when compared to pre-pandemic levels in 2019.
Some of the highlights from the last year included enhanced connectivity with the introduction of Porter Airlines to Saskatoon which resulted in direct service from Saskatoon to Toronto Pearson International Airport. There was also the return of Air Canada’s seasonal direct service to Montréal and WestJet’s increased route frequencies, including the increase to daily flights to Minneapolis over the summer.
President and CEO of the Saskatoon Airport Authority says 2024 was a great year of growth for YXE. Stephen Maybury says, “As we look to 2025, we are ready to meet the challenges and opportunities of the year ahead.”
In 2025 YXE is planning to develop a 1 MW solar facility, there will be a major renovation of the arrivals hall, the main escalators are to be replaced as well.
