Four people have been arrested with weapons, drugs and cash seized as RCMP conduct a series of enforcement activities to combat gang activity in Pelican Narrows.
Last Tuesday (Jan 21) officers from RCMP’s Prince Albert CRT and Pelican Narrows Detachment and Critical Incident Response Team executed search warrants at four homes in Pelican Narrows. They located and seized four illegal firearms at multiple residences, two replica firearms, 94 grams of crack cocaine, 13 grams of cocaine, a small amount of methamphetamine and other drug trafficking paraphernalia. Among the weapons seized was a loaded handgun which was later determined to be stolen, a rifle, a shotgun, and a zip gun and they also seized $38,000 in cash.
In total, 31 people were arrested – four suspects are facing charges and 27 individuals were released without charges. A 23-year-old Mississauga, Ontario man, Olaitan Iyanda Amoo and 35 year old Leah Sewap from Pelican Narrows are facing a variety of weapons and drug charges while, 37-year-old Jocelyn Linklater and 18-year-old Kelvin McCallum both of Pelican Narrows are facing multiple weapons-related charges.
In a news release, Sgt. Toby Martin, Saskatchewan Enforcement Response Teams’ (SERT) north region acting manager said, “By working together with RCMP officers from the Pelican Narrows Detachment and a specialized unit like the Critical Incident Response Team, the Prince Albert CRT helps make Pelican Narrows a safer place for those who call it home.”
