Technology is helping farmers and agronomists get important information in real time.
The winner of the Western Canadian Crop Production Show Innovation Award was ATP Nutrition Limited. The company has spent several years developing Nutriscan—its portable plant tissue and soil analyzer.
ATP Nutrition Chief Executive Officer Jarrett Chambers says it took four years to calibrate the unit for soil testing, which went to the market in 2021.
Nutriscan can assess wheat, canola, corn, soybean and potatoes. Work continues on barley, lentils and peas.
Chambers says the unit is easy-to use and very quick.
Chambers says Nutriscan is a complements to lab soil testing and not a replacement.
Nutriscan is a good tool for farmers and especially agronomists.
ATP has kept track of the results from some 40-thousand soil samples in Western Canada over the past three years.
Chambers runs through the various costs for Nutriscan.
