The “New Wave” Saskatoon Blades have found their mojo on the road, winning a fourth consecutive game away from SaskTel Centre on Tuesday night.

Tyler Parr (pictured) finished up a rebound in the crease off Ben Riche’s 2-on-1 shot to give the Bridge City Bunch a 3-2 triumph in Red Deer. It was the 19-year-old La Salle, Manitoba, product’s second goal. His first tally came 46 seconds after the Rebels had taken their second lead of the game in the third period, despite being badly out-shot. Chase Wutzke’s goaltending gave Red Deer a point in the standings as he stopped 41 of 44 shots while the Rebels directed 27 drives at Blue and Gold goaltender Evan Gardner. Zach Olsen also scored for the Blades, now 22-12-4 for the season and back into sole possession of first place in the W-H-L’s Eastern Conference. Tuesday was the first game for Saskatoon following four deals that moved four older, veteran players out and brought in three 2007-born skaters and eight badly-needed draft picks since the Christmas break ended and ahead of Thursday’s trade deadline. The second game, and the last one before the deadline passes, goes Wednesday night in Edmonton against the Oil Kings. Game time is 8 o’clock with CJWW’s broadcast beginning at 7:45.
