The Saskatchewan Roughriders traded an eighth-round selection in the 2025 CFL draft for the negotiating rights to the 27-year old quarterback.
Maier, who is eligible to become a free agent in February, led the Stampeder offense last season. He completed 357 passes for 3,841 yards and 22 touchdowns for the last place 5-12-1 Stamps last season.
The six-foot, 200 pound signal caller played in 65 games over four seasons—45 as a starter. He has thrown 60 touchdown passes and ran for five more TD’s during his CFL career.
Maier played his college ball at the University of California, Davis where he was the Big Sky conference Offensive Player of the Year in 2018.
