Conexus Credit Union is warning the public of fraudsters who are calling and texting Saskatchewan phone numbers pretending to be Conexus. In a news release, Conexus says during the holiday season there is usually an increase in these types of calls and text messages where suspects pretend to be financial institutions.
To protect yourselves, Conexus advises that they will never ask for your banking password or a one-time password, so if this happens, hang up immediately. Conexus doesn’t conduct transactions by text. Be wary of links in texts or emails. If in doubt, go directly to the source instead of clicking on the link.
A couple of ways to protect yourself include setting up security alerts where you’ll get a message when there is suspicious activity on your online banking accounts. Never reuse your passwords and don’t search for the Conexus website using a web browser – instead save and use a bookmark.
