The fall sitting of the Legislative Assembly came to a close yesterday, but the Official Opposition is urging the Sask. Party to come back for an emergency sitting regarding affordability.

NDP Leader Carla is calling on the provincial government to remove the PST from children’s clothing, as parents are stocking up on Christmas gifts and winter wear for their children.

Beck says cutting the PST on children’s clothing would save all Saskatchewan families $22 million each year.

Owner of Reclaim Maternity, Janel Edwards, has noticed a shift in holiday shopping trends in recent years. She says this week has been her slowest week all year, at a time when consumers are supposed to be on a holiday shopping frenzy.

She hopes the upcoming federal GST exemption on children’s clothing, toys, and various other items will draw in more customers, but she’s doubtful.
