The Saskatchewan NDP is reporting that numerous doctors have left Yorkton in the last six months.

A news release from the official opposition says in July 2024, at least four family doctors left Yorkton’s Sunrise Health and Wellness Centre, leaving residents without primary care.

The release says in response to a letter from a concerned Yorkton citizen, the Sask. Party Health Minister admitted that an entirely different Yorkton clinic, Yorkton Alliance Healthcare Clinic, had closed.

Today in the Legislature, the NDP introduced an emergency motion to launch an all-party taskforce to “work with municipal leaders and frontline healthcare workers to propose immediate solutions to solve the healthcare crisis.”

The NDP say the taskforce was blocked by the Sask. Party.
