The Prince Albert Police Service says, according to its November crime statistics report, the City has had a nearly 12 per cent decrease in violent crimes this year, compared to 2023. Attempted murders, assaults, robberies, and uttering threats are also lower, but incidents involving sexual violations and criminal harassment have increased.
Property crime is down by 18 per cent, but arson rose by nearly 20 per cent, and break-and-enters involving outbuildings of businesses rose by 42 per cent. Impaired driving has seen a 21 per cent increase. With the holiday season upon us, the Prince Albert Police Service encourages everyone to plan a safe ride home if consuming alcohol or using cannabis.
Police Chief Patrick Nogier says, ” Although the overall trends are encouraging, we recognize the significant impact that crime has on individuals and our community as a whole. The Police Service is committed to evaluating how, when and where crime is occurring so officers can be proactive to address and prevent crime.
