The City of Saskatoon is reminding everyone that although SARCAN depots are now accepting materials that were previously hard to recycle, that’s not the case in the city for the curbside and multi-unit recycling programs. SARCAN and SK Recycles announced on Tuesday that flexible packages, glass and foam packaging would be accepted. However, the City says recycling flexible plastics and foam packaging are not available through their program.
The flexible plastics can jam or damage recycling sorting equipment and both the plastics and foam packaging materials are hard to separate from other items, which could result in other materials no longer being recycles. Instead, take these items to SARCAN. For what you can recycle and where through SARCAN, click here.
