Originally, the weather watches and warnings from Environment Canada were mostly for the east side of Saskatchewan, but that has expanded. and now include Saskatoon, Prince Albert and Regina. Ten to 15 centimetres of snow is expected beginning tonight (Mon) and ending Tuesday morning, but still with periods of light to moderate snow through Tuesday night.
In the Melfort, Tisdale and Nipawin and surrounding area, it’s a winter storm warning. The total snowfall is forecast to be 25 to 50 centimetres for portions of east-central Saskatchewan and into Manitoba, beginning in Saskatchewan tonight (Monday), then later in Manitoba, tapering off from south to north on Wednesday and Thursday. The snow will be heavy at times with snowfall rates possible exceeding 2 to 3 centimetres per hour.
Further southeast, including Yorkton, Melville and further south to the U.S. border, it’s a snowfall warning with 10 to 15 centimetres expected beginning tomorrow and continuing tomorrow night. Some light snow is possible before midday Tuesday, but the heavy snow coming from Manitoba will move into the region around that time. Strong winds will produce blowing snow Tuesday night into Wednesday.
Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning with 20 to 40 cm of snow expected, beginning in Cumberland House, Pelican Narrows and Sandy Bay, and tomorrow morning for communities need Reindeer Lake tomorrow morning, and with that, gusty winds, which will mean reduced visibility and travel is not recommended when these conditions are happening.
