A man and a woman face a myriad of charges after multiple law enforcement units executed a pair of search warrants last Friday in the Lafleche area in south-western Saskatchewan.
At about 11:25 a.m. on November 8, members of the Saskatchewan RCMP’s Swift Current Saskatchewan Trafficking Response Team (STRT), Police Dog Services, Gravelbourg RCMP detachment, National Weapons Enforcement Support Team and the Regina Police Service Crime Reduction Team executed search warrants at a residence in Lafleche and a rural yard site south of town as part of an ongoing investigation. Officers located and seized 31 firearms, all of which were stored unsafely and/or loaded, ammunition, brass knuckles, five prohibited devices, a small amount of psilocybin and a stolen vehicle (all pictured). Two men and one woman were arrested at the residence, however one of the men was released without charges.
As a result, 46-year-old Jason Palmer and 38-year-old Amanda Johnson, both of Lafleche, were each charged with careless storage of firearms, storing loaded firearms, possessing firearms without a license, possessing prohibited devices and knowingly possessing firearms without a license. Palmer had six additional charges added on and made his first court appearance on November 12 in Moose Jaw Provincial Court. He is scheduled to appear again on December 12. Johnson is scheduled to appear in court in Assiniboia on January 9.
