A Ward 1 candidate, incumbent Darren Hill, says he has heard from residents that someone has been saying they are representing Hill’s campaign on the doorstep, but they are acting erratically and harassing residents while doing so. Hill emphasizes that this person isn’t representing him and he has reported the matter to police. In a news release, Hill says in addition to over 120 of his election signs going missing in the last few weeks, numerous residents have complained about a male in a black truck harassing them.
Hill received an email on Monday from a resident who said someone was acting rudely while campaigning for him in the Sutherland area, but he states that he didn’t have anyone campaigning for him on Remembrance Day. He adds that someone has been identified by a license plate on a black Denali truck.
An email from the Saskatoon Police Service to the CJWW newsroom says on Sunday, police received a report consistent with this information and they are investigating.
No other details from police are being provided at this time.
Another Ward 1 candidate, Kathryn MacDonald said last week on social media, she had heard that another candidate in her ward had attempted to intimidate voters, implying that he will know who they voted for. She emphasizes that your vote is confidential.
