Late Tuesday afternoon, Swift Current RCMP responded to a report of a serious two-vehicle accident on Highway 4, about four kilometres south of that city. The highway is closed and detours remain in place as of 6 p.m.
Officers can’t confirm if the cause of the collision is weather-related, but police in the area have reported there is poor visibility and the roads are slippery. The advice from RCMP in the area is if you must travel, please slow down, and consider delaying travel if possible.
Because of poor visibility with slush, loose snow and swirling snow, the Highway Hotline is advising not to travel near Consul. In the southwest, Highway 37 around Shaunavon has snow cover, swirling snow and ice. Highway 2 around the Craik and Bethune areas, there is loose snow on the road and reduced visibility. Check the Highway Hotline before you travel.
