According to a Go Fund Me page, the person who was shot at work just north of Prince Albert last Thursday is Orlan Peterson. A friend of his started the page for him.
The page says that Orlan was working alone around 8:30 in the morning when two unknown vehicles entered the property, and one person approached with a mask on and ordered him around at gunpoint while assaulting him with a firearm. His phone and keys were stolen, and then just before they left in his truck, he was ordered into a trailer and shot.
According to the Go Fund Me page, it took him about one-and-a-half hours to get himself out to the road to get help. He was transported to Saskatoon by STARS for surgery. It’s not known at this time if he will completely recover physically. There are more surgeries, rehabilitation and medical appointments in his future and he may never work again, according to Orlan’s friend, Brad Grolla. The fundraiser is to help Orlan and his family with things like travel expenses, fuel, meals, and lodging and lost wages.
Saskatchewan RCMP announced last Friday that charges had been laid in connection to the dangerous person investigation. Two suspects were arrested during the search on Thursday near Tobin Lake with help from the Saskatoon Police Service Air Support Unit. Both 18-year-old Melissa McCallum of La Ronge and 33-year-old Angus Heath of Prince Albert are facing numerous charges including aggravated assault, discharging a firearm with intent, unlawfully causing bodily harm and careless use of a firearm. Two suspects are still at large.
