Between midnight and late this morning (Thurs), emergency crews responded to eight fires in Saskatoon and then there was another around 2:14 this afternoon in the 100 block of Avenue N South. There were five in the Mayfair area over a time span of just over an hour this morning from 9:20 to just after 10:30. The first call was a detached garage fire in the 1500 block of Avenue E North It then spread to an adjacent garage across the alley on Avenue F North. Both were brought under control.
At 9:53 a.m., the Saskatoon Fire Department responded to a deck fire in the 1400 block of Avenue D North, which was doused by the homeowner. The Fire Department checked it out to ensure all hot spots had been extinguished. Then at 10:01 a fence on fire was reported from the 100 block of 31st Street West followed by another fence fire on 29th Street West about a half hour later. Both were extinguished.
At this point, it’s not known if any of the fires are related. Residents are asked to report any suspicious activity by calling 911.
